The Effectiveness of Positive Psychology Training on Irrational Beliefs among Women with Incompatible Spouses

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of positivist psychology training on irrational beliefs among women with incompatible spouses. The research design was a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest with a control group. The sample size was 40 people who were selected from the mentioned population by simple random method. 20 people were assigned to the experimental group and 20 people to the control group. The research tools used were the Irrational Beliefs Questionnaire. The experimental group received positive psychology training for 90 minutes in each session for eleven sessions. Multivariate and univariate analysis of covariance were used to analyze the data. The results confirm that there is a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of post-test of irrational beliefs with pre-test control. Based on this, it can be said that a significant difference has occurred in at least one of the dependent variables, namely the dimensions of irrational beliefs, and the coefficient of effect shows that 75.1% of the difference between the two groups is related to experimental intervention. The most important results of this study are the effectiveness of positivist psychology education in reducing irrational beliefs of women with incompatible spouses. Therefore, family counseling centers are advised to take effective steps to reduce irrational beliefs in women.
