Explaining the characteristics of the curriculum based on the life skills of the elementary school system in Iran
The aim of this study was to explain the characteristics of life skills based curriculum for primary school in Iran. The nature of the research was qualitative based on the data theory approach. The statistical population consisted of curriculum experts and primary school teachers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews until saturation. Validity and reliability of the collected data were assessed using Guba, E. G., & Lincoln evaluation methods. After analyzing the information through three coding stages (open, pivotal and selective), based on the research findings, the features of the curriculum based on life skills include: creating a healthy society, establishing world peace and security, lifelong learning, attractiveness and diversity of content, Variety of teaching methods, variety of evaluation methods, the role of the teacher's educational leader, the connection between home and school, the student as the main element of the educational system, the realization of educational ideals and the training of future human beings. The results showed that teaching life skills through the elementary school curriculum leads to the institutionalization of school learning in children's behavior, speech and actions; there is a significant relationship between individual and social mental health and life skills training. The integration of life skills training in the elementary school curriculum was suggested by the respondents.
