Meta-analysis of "theft" Studies

 Theft is one of the most important crimes, which is a clear example of insecurity. This crime is one of the main harmful factors in the structure and stability of society that endangers the social and economic security of the people.

In the framework of meta-analysis of the country's priority injuries, this study has been excavated and summarized the factors affecting this social problem based on the findings of research conducted in Iran in the last decade. In accordance with the nature of meta-analysis, after refining the identified studies during the years 2009 to 2017, finally, 15 studies were eligible for meta-analysis. Statistical findings of selected studies were analyzed using CMA2 software.

The results of meta-analysis of theft hypotheses showed the effect of three frequently repeated variables on significant theft. Accordingly, the socio-economic base with an average effect size of -0.502, social control with an average effect size of -0.296 and adherence to moral beliefs with an average effect size of -0.436 all have the opposite and deterrent effect on theft and its commission by People had. Based on the results of this meta-analysis, focusing on situational and disciplinary prevention can be effective in promoting a sense of community security and reducing the crime of theft.
