The manner of social interaction in patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is one of the psychiatric disorders so that high rates of referral of patients to psychiatric centers and high statistics of this disorder (about 8%) in the community indicate the importance of this disease. The unawareness of the community about the symptoms, complications, and manners of behaviors with these patients cause many problems for these individuals in the community and the family. The purpose of this study was to determine the manner of social interaction in PTSD patients with the surrounding environment. This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study for PTSD patients of Tabriz.

The statistical population of this study included 30 men with posttraumatic stress disorder and 30 healthy peoples (without PTSD) in Tabriz. Data were gathered using a social equilibrium questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS software.

 The results showed that there is a significant difference between the social interaction of PTSD people and healthy people; and the average rate of social interaction in patients is very low compared to healthy people.

 Based on the findings of this research, it can be concluded that PTSD can have a significant influence on the manner of social interaction of individuals and can severely reduce its rate.
