Developing a Creativity Education Model Based on the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) for Gifted and Talented Students: A Qualitative Study
The aim of this study was to Developing a Creativity Education Model Based on the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) for Gifted and Talented Students.
The research method was qualitative and grounded theory approach.Participants were 3 specialists, 2 school manager, 4 teachers and 6 students selected by purposive sampling method of gifted schools in Isfahan. Their views were assessed using semi-structured interview. Data were saturated with 15 interviews and were analyzed by systematic approach of Strauss and Corbin (2008).
Findings coded 156 concepts, 23 components and 8 categories.
Results showed the categories of adaptation and development of education(phenomenon-centered); content flexibility; educational factors open minding; attention to individual differences (causal factors); mental processes fluidization (strategy); creativity continuum (ground factor); resistance to acceptance of change (intervener); innovation, initiative and production in society development (consequence) are important in developing a model for gifted students’ creativity.Validation of findings was performed using data matching criteria and expertise. Educational system designers use this model for enriching the education and take effective steps to promote the creativity of gifted students.
