Prediction of Marriage Attitude Based on the Basic Needs of Choice Theory and Family Function in Single Students at Farhangian University
The purpose of this study is to investigate on the role of basic needs of choice theory and family function in prediction of marriage attitude in single students at Farhangian University in Qom.
This study was a descriptive-correlational study and the population of the study consisted of single students of Farhangian University in Qom. The tools were used in this study includes Owner's Basic Needs Questionnaire (2012), McMaster Family Function (1980) and MAS Marriage Attitude Questionnaire (1998). Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression in software of SPSS-23.
The results showed that the role of basic needs of choice theory and family function in predicting of marriage attitude were positive and significant (R2=40). From basic needs of choice theory, the role of need to survive and need to freedom in predicting of marriage attitude were positive and significant. Also, from components of family function in predicting of marriage attitude, the role of component of problem-solving, relations, roles and affection were positive and significant.
Thus, the basic needs of choice theory (especially need to survive and need to freedom) and family function can play an important role in predicting of the marriage attitude and it is approved to consideration these variables in marriage attitude in pre marriage counseling sessions with students.
