The effectiveness of emotional regulation training on the sexual abnormalities of adolescents who use pornography sites
Children and teenagers are the most victims of pornography. In fact, the fields of curiosity, impressionability and learning of children and teenagers have caused them to pay more attention to sexual issues than adults, and because of this, they are more inclined to pornographic works and of course suffer more harm. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of emotional regulation training on sexual abnormalities of adolescents who use pornography sites in Abadan. This research is practical in terms of purpose and semi-experimental in terms of method, in which a pre-test-post-test design was used with a control group. The current research population included teenagers who were users of pornography sites living in Abadan city, who had referred to counseling centers. The sample size included 40 people (20 people in the experimental group and 20 people in the control group) and was selected using cluster random sampling method. The members of the experimental group were trained in emotion regulation in 8 90-minute sessions, and the content of emotion regulation training sessions based on the Gross model (2014) was used to teach emotion regulation strategies. The data collection tool included the paraphilia scale of Kurt Freud (1968). The data were analyzed by inferential statistics methods of analysis of covariance. The results of data analysis showed that emotional regulation training was effective in sexual abnormalities (P<0.01, F=73.205) and its dimensions. But it has not been effective in the component of memorial worship. Therefore, it is very important to pay attention to emotion regulation training in schools and it is an important factor in reducing the sexual abnormalities of adolescents.
