Al-Turayhi's Methods of Dealing with the Reports in his al-Muntakhab

Al-Muntakhab of Fakhr al-Din al-Turayhi (979-1086 AH/ 1571-1675) has since been regarded as a source for later maqtals. Although some researchers highlighted some weaknesses of this book, quite a few studies have been done with regard to the manipulations done on its reports. One significant change is that he made connections among unrelated reports, with the other onrs that he merged into one another. Among other manipulations and interpolations, one finds adding story-like beginnings and endings, in-text explanations, change of certain names, and the like. These changes are of the book, not from the sources he drew upon.
