Phenomenology of successful lived experience of couples on factors affecting marital satisfaction in Shiraz

Marital satisfaction is the most important component of family stability, and the increasing rate of divorce in today's Iran society, reveals the need to examine factors affecting adjustment and marital satisfaction. The aim of this study was phenomenology the lived experience of successful couples on the factors affecting marital satisfaction in Shiraz  In the present qualitative research; the phenomenological approach is used. This study was performed qualitatively and using a phenomenological approach. Among the couples who were referred to counseling centers in Shiraz in 2020, up to a saturation level of 15 couples who had a high level of satisfaction, were selected to participate in the study. Fifteen semi-structured interviews were conducted and The mean and standard deviation of the time of each interview was 47 minutes and 2.5, respectively. all the interviews were tape-recorded and then transcribed line by line and finally analyzed through the interpretive analysis method of Diekelmann  Allen, & Tanner (1989). analyzed data from interviews led to the identification of 178 primary codes, 7 sub-themes, and 2 central themes Including (Interpersonal factors and Intrapersonal factors). The result of this study shows that some of the interpersonal factors (Assertiveness, emotional maturity, self-esteem, and inner stability)and intrapersonal factors(Interpersonal forgiveness, differentiation, and empathy) have effects on marital satisfaction. Identified intrapersonal and interpersonal factors were among the factors influencing the success of the marital relationship of the participating couples. They were factors that raising them in a couple could greatly increase the chances of a successful relationship.
