Abstract:
The 2014 domestic crisis in Ukraine and unseating the president were affected by renewed role for Russia in Kiev. This crisis was called a revolution by the West and a coup by Russia. These opposing views were indicative of a potential new tension between Russia and the West. As Crimea detached from Ukraine and attached to Russia, the biggest tension since the Civil war appeared between Moscow and the West. This study intends to answer the question “ Is it possible to study the role played by Russia`s foreign policy in Ukrainian crisis from the classic realism?” Clearly, the classic realism continue to exist in Russia`s foreign policy towards Ukraine`s crisis. Moscow`s application of these guidelines is supported by Russia`s disregard for international institutions including United nations, European Union, and by using its military efforts, dispatch of military forces to the eastern Ukraine, and finally the attachment of Crimea.
