Examining and criticizing the view of SeyyedMohammad Hossein Fazlullah on the meaningof Imamate under the verse of affliction

The year of Imamate is one of the main issues in the field of Shiite thought and the Holy Quran has addressed it in some verses.The verse of the affliction is one of the main documents in expressing the meaning of the Imam and the issue of Imamate; however, there is a serious disagreement among different commentators.Shiite commentators often consider the Imamate to be a supernatural authority, and Sunni commentators consider them one.In this article, while briefly explaining the views of Shiite commentators on the meaning of Imam, the views of Seyyed Mohammad Hussein Fazlullah including the unity of the meaning of Imamate and prophecy, the observation of prophecy internally and Imamate externally and the universal Imamate of Ibrahim are fully discussed and examined. The translation of the covenant of God into prophecy and its potential appeal to his children are examined and criticized in literary, Qur'anic and narrative aspects followed by the explanation of the correct meaning of the Imam. Moreover, the presumed meaning of obedience to the Imam is also obtained based on the narrations.
