Meta-analysis of educational consequences of internet addiction in Iran

Abstract:
Background and Aim

Nowadays, the internet is one of the essential parts of Student of university and students life, and its addiction is causing many problems. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect size of educational consequences of Internet addiction of nationwide researches through a Meta-analysis procedure. 

Method

The method of conducting the research is a quantitative meta-analysis. 30 done research between the years of 1380-1400 about the educational consequences of Internet addiction which have been published in scientific journals and Irandoc, were selected to assess. Selected research have been carried out with survey method and by using the questionnaire in different statistical population and based on reliable scales. 

Results

The combination of the size of the effects of educational-educational consequences of Internet addiction showed that, in general, Internet addiction has adverse effects on educational environments. Academic achievement (ES,  strongest outcomes. Due to the heterogeneity in the studies, the effect size of the educational consequences of Internet addiction in students (ES, -0.12) is higher than in college students (ES, -0.05); and the year 90-93 (ES, -0.37) was more than the year 97-94 (ES, -0.07) and 98-1401 (ES, 0.12).

Conclusion

The excessive use of cyberspace has played a negative role in the academic issues of Students of university and especially students.  In this regard, it is suggested that Students of university and students manage the use of virtual social networks.
