Metasynthesis of Organizational Productivity Antecedents Based on the New Institutionalism Theory

Today, productivity plays an important role in the economic development of countries. Infact, attention to productivity has gone beyond a choice; it has become a necessity. This study aims to identify the antecedents of organizational productivity based on the theory of new institutionalism. This research is developmental in terms of purpose. For this purpose, after searching the databases, in the period between 1998 to 2022, 671 articles in the field of productivity were evaluated and finally 65 articles were purposefully selected and analyzed. Based on the final research framework, organizational productivity antecedents based on the new institutionalist theory were classified into two main categories and eight sub-categories. The main categories resulting from the research results are: inter organizational antecedents and institutional antecedents. Interorganizational antecedents include five sub-categories of leadership and productivity management, organizational strategy and policy towards productivity, employees, organizational resources and organizational processes, and institutional antecedents include three sub-categories of legal / mandatory requirements, normative requirements and imitation / professional requirements. The obtained framework can be used for strategic planning in the field of organizational productivity.
