The Role of Companions of Imam Riḍā (as) in Confronting Deviant Trends

The era of Razavi is a period when many deviant sects and trends were active, and the conditions were more ready for the promotion of these sects and movements. Imam Riḍā (as) and his companions made many efforts to counter these trends. Meanwhile, the role of the Imam’s companions in this era is very impressive and bold. Meanwhile, the role of the Imam’s companions in this era is very impressive and influential. These companions, who were among the scholars, companions of hadith, theologians, and jurists of their era, confronted these trends with various methods and played a very important role in this path. Reasonable and logical debate and reasoning, compiling numerous books on explaining authentic Islam and recognizing deviations, dissemination of religious knowledge and its promotion among the common people and the elite, and also the training of distinguished students, each of whom was an original defender and preacher of Islam and played an active role in the front against these deviant trends; are of the methods of these Imam’s companions in confronting the deviant trends of the Razavi era. By examining each of these methods, this article has tried to express the role and valuable position of the companions of Imam Riḍā (peace be upon him) in that era to the extent that the dimming of these trends during the era of Imam Javād (as) can clearly be seen.
