Abstract:
Johnson and Lakoff proposed the theory of embodiment of the mind in response to the mind-body problem, based on the theory of early metaphor. The issue of the article is the definition of physicality by the two and the critique based on Sadra's principles. According to Lykoff and Johnson, the mind and its functions depend on the physical properties of the body and the nervous system, and the brain plays a causal role in the processing of the mind. They emphasize the necessity of the body as the physical source of structures of understanding such as pictorial schemas. In Mulla Sadra's view, although the ontological status of body and soul is the same at the beginning of evolution and the functions of the soul are realized in it, in the discussion of formal and perceptual maturity of soul and the interaction of soul and body it has a view beyond Cartesian and neoclassical view. Newness in the identity of the mind is beyond the physical matter and the difference between the two is that in the end Sadra considers the body as a descendant of the soul and its affairs, not vice versa. In his view.
