Abstract:
A significant part of Persian poetry consists of panegyric poem. Analyzing the works of Persian poets, it is evident that most of them have a trace of panegyric poems in their collection of poems. However, judging eulogy with the present criteria caused this unavoidable and valuable part of Persian poetry to be neglected. This problem leads to inaccurate perceptions concerning these poems along with inappropriate encounters with such kind of poets. This misjudgment has challenged the position of euology in Persian poetry since it is not assessed properly and few researches are devoted to this area.  In this article, first of all, a vivid image of panegyric poem is presented. Then, its structure is analyzed. Eventually, the most important functions and values of panegyric poems are listed. The main aim of this paper is correction of inaccurate perceptions and judgments of eulogic poems.
