Gender Roles and Social Support in Obsessive-Compulsive Women and Normal Women
The purpose of this research was to compare the level of gender role play and social support between women with obsessive-compulsive disorder and normal women in 2019.
The method of this descriptive study was a comparative causal type, and the sample of this research was women with obsessive-compulsive and normal women who referred to counseling centers and government psychological services, Mante 5, Tehran, using cluster sampling. At one stage, 300 people were selected. In this research, Bam's gender role questionnaire was used to measure gender role adaptability and the multiple scale of social support was used to measure social support. To analyze the data, multivariate analysis of variance and post hoc tests were used to compare the averages of the two groups.
The results of the research showed that there is a significant difference between two groups of gender roles and social support between obsessive-compulsive women and normal women.
As a result, normal women showed more feminine characteristics and also had characteristics such as seeking help and understood and valued the support of organizations and social institutions, while women have obsessive thoughts. And practically, due to excessive mental rumination and focusing on evils and weaknesses, they had less social support and were less accepting of their gender biases.
