Studying the Attitudes of Social Networks Users on Veil and Chastity in Cyber Space (Case Study of Bojnourd City)
Emergent and Rapid expansion of satellite and networking technologies, new challenges appeared versus Islamic veil and chastity. Examining of potential hurts of virtual world on veil and chastity can be the issues of social, educational, and religious research so. This research by underlying the findings of a theoretical study named "virtues relationship within cybernetic social networks" tried to study the attitudes and behavior of users of these network towards Islamic veil and chastity and there in both real and virtual word. This Research in regards of research paradigm is described as quantitative research and descriptive-survey ones. Statistical Society was social media users living in Northern Khorasan Province that 490 men and women were selected by convenience sampling. The research tool was a researcher-made questionnaire that its internal consistency by Cronbach's alpha method was calculated within 0.71 to 0.83. Findings showed about 54% of participants more than two hours and about 25% between one to two hours in a day use social networks. Data analysis showed that users' attitude score toward veil and chastity are not assessed desirable. Unlike the mental stereotypes, women score significantly was higher than men. Also, the score of married people and under- one- hour users significantly was higher than single people and over- one- hour users in attitude toward veil, in virtual world. According to the results, in particular, it is suggested that in religious education or promotion, men more than women and at least equally be addressed. Also, due to direct connection between the use of social networks and the users view, it is necessary that users' awareness about harms of cyberspace promote through religious education and media literacy.
