Abstract:
The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of matrix therapy on reducing the temptation of stimulant drug users under treatment.
Method
In this research, a semi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design was used with a control group, and the statistical population consisted of 70 male stimulant drug users who referred to the addiction treatment centers of Mashhad in the first six months of 2022. 30 of them were selected by the available sampling method and based on the research entry criteria, and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups of 15 people. The tools used in this research were Connor and Davidson's resilience questionnaire (2003) and Salehi Federdi et al.'s drug temptation questionnaire (2007). The experimental group received matrix therapy for 24 sessions of 120 minutes, two sessions a week, and the control group did not receive training, and data analysis was done using the covariance analysis method based on SPSS 25 software. The findings showed that matrix treatment can create a significant difference in the mean scores of resilience and the temptation to use of patients and lead to an increase in resilience and a decrease in the temptation to use of the experimental group in the post-test (P<0.001). The result of this research shows that the matrix therapy has a good practical ability to increase resilience and reduce the temptation to use stimulants and can be used as a beneficial treatment option by psychologistsKeywords:
