Explaining the effect of "mental" well-being in committing the crime of drug trafficking among the prisoners of Ghazal Hesar
The prevention and control of the drug trafficking crisis needs to recognize and investigate different factors that can lead to such behaviors. Among these factors it is possible to mention the social welfare and subjective components of well-being. These factors are quite crucial due to their multi-dimensional nature and impact over different life aspects, and they have significant influence on life quality and people action in the society. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to measure subjective well-being and its role in drug trafficking crimes among prisoners who are convicted of these crimes.
This research work is potentially an applied research study and descriptive-analytical practically. For theoretical part, a documentary method is utilized and for quantitative part a survey model and questionnaire tool are employed. The statistical population of the research is 310 prisoners convicted for drug trafficking crimes in Ghazalhessar prison evaluated with the Morgan's table. The data analysis is performed through descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
Research findings reveal that the subjective well-being and its components (happiness, security, merit, preferences, needs and relative comparison with average of 2.51, 1.98, 2.26, 1.85, 2.50 and 2.24, respectively) have a minor level among the prisoners, and consequently lack of subjective well-being has substantial impact and significant relationship with the drug trafficking crimes.
