Social potentials to prevent crime: Social commitment and moral behavior as deterrents to law evasion

Abstract:
Background and Aim
law evasion is a serious threat to public security, and it is the duty of the government and society to safeguard citizens, organizations and institutions against threats to their financial and life security. The present study is aimed to evaluate the effect of social commitment on escaping law with the mediating role of moral behavior.
Method
This is a descriptive- survey research with a statistical sample of 265 people from Islamic Azad University of Tabriz in 2019. The field data were collected using a questionnaire and SPSS and PLS software is used for data analysis.
findings
We found that the society should be controlled based on the latent potentials in individuals. By examining the social commitment and moral behavior of people in predicting law evasion, it was concluded that the higher the social commitment (e.g. rule of law, responsibility, universality and social interaction) and moral behavior, the lower law evasion and people act as self-controlled based on determining the reported variance in the results. First, this event is a disciplinary phenomenon and prevention of law evasion, and second, it is considered a very strong social norm that people express moral behavior as a result of law and responsibility, universality and social interaction and are controlled directly and indirectly from two dimensions of social commitment and moral behavior towards law evasion.
Results
The results of this study highlighted the role of social commitment and the occurrence of moral behavior regarding the control of law evasion and took an effective step in enhancing self-control of society by strengthening social commitment and moral behavior considerations. Also, the results of the researchers of this study showed the emphasis on using latent potentials of the individuals in society to enhance self-control toward crime prevention.
