Introduction

Bipolar disorder type 1 is the most severe and common subtype of bipolar disorder. Therefore, the aim of this study was Causal modeling of recovery from bipolar disorder based on sleep disturbance and mania-related memory bias, with the mediating role of working memory.

Method

This cross-sectional study was performed by available sampling method on 126 patients with type 1 bipolar disorder in the manic phase who were referred to psychiatric offices. Sample subjects were reassessed for mania severity 30 days after completing the questionnaires and initial assessment. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and Smartpls-3 software.

Results

The results showed that sleep disturbances and working memory are effective factors in recovery from the disorder (t <1.096 and P <0.05), but the relationship between mania-related memory bias and recovery from the disorder was rejected (96/96). 1> t and P> 0.05).

Conclusion

Sleep disturbances can directly or indirectly (by affecting working memory) and mania-related memory bias can also affect the recovery from bipolar disorder by affecting working memory.
