A study on Wahhabi's interpretation from Qur'anic verses regarding "hearing of the dead"
The Wahhabis deny the hearing of the dead. They mention as witness some verses such as You cannot make the dead hear (27:80), or If you invoke them they will not hear your invocation (35:14). And also the Wahhabis argue that according to the story of the prophet Uzair, the prophets are not aware of this world after their death. While, this kind of interpretation is strange between Islamic scholars. But care must be taken that the first qur'anic verse is irrelevant to the hearing of the dead, and the second verse is about the idols. The prophet Uzair story shows that while he was dead he could not remember anything from this world, and it does not mean that he could not hear something. So, this story does not indicate that the dead cannot hear. And there is a difference between not knowing something and not hearing something.
