Abstract:

Wahhabi's standing toward metaphorical meaning is not unanimous, rather it is accompanied by some kind of confusion and contradiction. At the beginning, the Wahhabists have denied the existence of any kind of interpretation in Sharia texts and, accordingly, the permissibility of existence of any metaphorical meaning in the Qur'an. After that, they have realized that this stand will lead to bad consequences, since in some cases, the lexical meaning of the Quran words will spoil its meaning. Therefore, the Wahhabis have tried to find some solutions. Some  of them suggested the idea "style in the Arabic language" and others "development in the Arabic language" as a solution; But these two solutions have serious problems. It seems that providing these solutions is useless and it refers to accepting the metaphorical meaning, For this reason, some contemporary scholars of Wahhabism have come to the conclusion that the fight between supporters and opponents of this stance is useless, maintaining that even we can use metaphorical meaning in the verses about God's attributes and we can interpret them.
