Institutional Research Model in Universities Affiliated with Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research

Institutional Research model is a structured process of organized research and regular evaluations in a university aimed at supporting strategic and operational knowledge management for policy-making, planning, and decision-making. The objective of this research is to design an institutional Research model in universities affiliated with Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR). Methods and Materials: The present study aims propose Institutional Research model in universities affiliated with Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research and falls under the category of applied research. The required data were collected through examining documents from Examining the documents of Institutional Research offices of prestigious universities in the world, texts, scientific reports, and official job descriptions of universities affiliated with Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research. In terms of data collection methodology, it belongs to the “exploratory qualitative research” group, and the data type is qualitative. The study population consists of university experts and stakeholders who have sufficient knowledge about the subject. The Strauss and Corbin’s coding method (open, axial, and selective coding) was used for data analysis.

Through data analysis and interviews conducted, six main dimensions in the field of institutional research were identified, and 28 components were extracted. A summary of the results was provided.

Higher education is a complex system that faces different cultural backgrounds, diverse fields of study, and resource imbalances in various educational systems. These differences indicate that uniform policies will not be effective for all higher education institutions. Therefore, policies need to be tailored to these differences. Institutional research serves as a mechanism for centralizing and facilitating data collection, analysis, and interpretation to enhance decision-making in Iranian.
