Abstract:

In his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei has mentioned the role of "legitimizing" the people to the government, in a long-term approach of monotheistic governance. Some researchers with a special understanding of the concept of "monotheism in governance" try to justify the leadership's point of view in this regard by referring to the "acceptability theory" or by separating "legitimacy in the position of proof from the position of proof". But according to the findings of this research, legitimizing the people from the perspective of His Holiness does not mean "acceptability" nor "legitimacy in the position of proof"; Rather, it means "righteousness" in a long-term perspective in political philosophy. From the Supreme Leader's point of view, the Islamic government is based on two foundations of legitimacy. The main basis for legitimizing the government is "God's will and permission" and its other pillar is "Muslim people's will". Therefore, the people have the role of giving legitimacy and justice to the government, and this right has been granted to them by God. The right of the people is the "subordinate's right" and the "principal right" of God Almighty, not against it. This finding has been extracted and inferred from his statements by descriptive and analytical method.
