Spatial Analysis of Vulnerability of the Neighborhoods of Salmas City against Earthquake based on Fuzzy WASPAS Method

The need for security and safety, being on the second step of the hierarchy of human needs defined by Maslow, is of great importance in the prosperity of citizens. Considering the geographical extent of cities and the role and importance and accumulation of centers of gravity, facilities and human resources at the top of threats, proper planning can play a fundamental role in risk management and reducing the city's vulnerability to accidents. Therefore, this research has been conducted with the aim of spatial analysis of the vulnerability of neighborhoods of Salmas city against earthquakes with a non-active defense approach. The current type of research is applied and the method of carrying out the work is descriptive-analytical and the collection of information is done through library and field studies. To achieve the goal of the research, 12 indicators have been selected and standardized based on fuzzy functions in GIS software. Then the 12 fuzzified indicators are overlapped and the vulnerability map of neighborhoods of Salmas city is extracted based on the passive defense approach. WASPAS method was used to show vulnerability in 13 neighborhoods of Salmas city and its data was analyzed in MATLAB software. The results showed that 16% of the area of Salmas is in the very low vulnerability zone, 33% in the low vulnerability zone, 29% in the medium vulnerability zone, 19% in the high vulnerability zone and 3% in the very high vulnerability zone. Also, the lowest level of vulnerability was related to neighborhood 10 and the highest level of vulnerability was related to neighborhood 13.
