The Role of Parenting Styles and Attribution Styles in Predicting Conduct Disorder Mediated by Identity Styles in High Secondary School Female Students

Abstract:
Background & Aims

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of parenting styles and attribution styles in predicting conduct disorders mediated by identity styles in high secondary school students.

Materials & Methods

The statistical population included all high secondary school female students in Mahabad in the academic year 1401-1402 and 350 people were selected as a sample by multi –stage cluster random sampling method. In order to collect information, CSI-4 Children's Pathological Questionnaire, Baumrind Parenting Styles Questionnaire, Attribution Styles Questionnaire, Berzonsky Identity Styles Questionnaire were used. Structural equation model in smart-PLS3 and SPSS-25 software was used to analyze the data.

Results

The results of the regression analysis showed that there is positive and significant relationship between permissive and authoritarian parenting styles with conduct disorder and also significant and negative relationship between authoritative parenting styles with conduct disorder (p≤0/05). The relationship between attributional style of positive situation and conduct disorder is negative and significant and attributional style of negative situation is positive and significant (p≤0/05). The relationship between normative and diffused identity styles with conduct disorder is positive and significant and informative identity style is negative and significant (p≤0/05).

Conclusion

  Therefore, it can be concluded that the mentioned variables have the ability to predict conduct disorder.
