Health system policymakers can enhance the performance of healthcare systems by strengthening governance. This study aims to compare the performance of healthcare systems in successful countries to provide a suitable model for improving Iran's health system.Materials and Methods
This research employed a comparative study design. To gather relevant information, Persian keywords related to health system governance, along with their English equivalents (e.g., organizational structure, evaluation, stewardship, planning, accreditation), were utilized. Updated articles were sourced from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Magiran, Elsevier, PubMed, SID, Medline, Iranmedex, as well as Google Scholar and search engines. Results
The findings revealed that countries like Iran and China have ministries of health responsible for overseeing their health systems, while countries like the United States operate a national public health system. Continuous control and validation processes are implemented in both Iran and Turkey. Most countries examine quantitative and qualitative control indicators to ensure health system performance. Furthermore, all countries have emphasized the importance of information technology to enhance the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services. Conclusion
Iran's health system faces numerous challenges. Adapting the experiences of successful countries can strengthen the governance of Iran's health system, laying the groundwork for achieving sustainable healthcare goals. Keywords:
