An Analysis of the Effective Factors in the Production of Shrimp in Khuzestan Province

Procurement of animal protein is highly important in human nutrition. One of the major sources of animal protein is an aquatic animal, among which is shrimp. Marine fishing, especially shrimp fishing, is not enough to meet the global demand, therefore marine culture, especially shrimp, has increasingly acquired world- wide importance. In Iran, due to the favorable seashores and possibility of export, shrimp farming has developed.Studying the effective factors in shrimp production for optimal use of these factors is important for producers. In this research the effects of density per hectar, average vitality in percent, average food consumed per hectar and labor - day per hectar on average production of shrimp per hectar have been investigated. The results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between density per hectar, average vitality in percent and labor - day per hectar with average production of shrimp per hectar. Despite the common belief, however, no significant relationship exists between the average food consumed per hectar and the average shrimp production per hectar. The constant return to scale in this study, was rejected by Wald Coefficient Test.
