The Relationship between Affective Family Functioning and Creativity In Elementary School Students

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between affective family functioning and creativity in th and 5th grades of elementary school students in Isfahan. The correlation approach was used in this study. Therefore male and female students were randomly selected from the th and th grades.The students answered the word association test (items creativity) and one of their parents answered the affective family functioning and the demographic questionnaire items. The family functioning sub-scales were: Relations, roles, problem solving, affective response, affective involvement, and functioning. It was hypothesized that there would be significant relation ships between creativity and family functioning sub-scale scores. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between creativity and affective responding (P<), and` between creativity and affective involvement (P<). The relationships between creativity and the rest of the family functioning sub-scale scores were not significant. Girls scored significantly higher than did boys on the word association test (P<).
