A COMPARISON OF DEPRESSION AND OCCUPATIONAL STRESS IN PSYCHIATRICS AND NON PSYCHIATRICS UNIT NURSES AND OFFICIAL EMPLOYEES

Abstract:
Introduction
Depression and stress are the most prevalent problems among nurses. Probably nurses experience greater levels of stress at work. Methods and Material: One hundred and forty nurses at psychiatric and non-psychiatric units and official employees in Amin, Khorshid, and Zahra hospitals of Isfahan were the samples. The subjects were assessed with beck depression and occupational stress questionners.
Result
In this study, there was no significant difference between psychiatrics and non Psychiatrics unit nurses and official employees for depression level. But there were significant differences in stress level between nurses and official employees.
Conclusion
Occupational stress is the most prevalent problem in nurses than other employees.
