Review of researches done in Shast-Kolate permanent plot of Gorgan

A lot of surveys observed that destruction of Hyrcanian forest has been increased and their natural characteristics will be lost in a short period of time. The attention is not paid to select the forest area for continuing studies as permanent plot. There are contact parcels in forestry plans with natural site conditions that make opportunity for conducting permanent plot. Thus, the permanent plots on parcel 32 in Shast-Kolate forest was selected and were done several succeed educational and research projects such as: the relation of soil properties with spatial tree patterns and tree groups in mixed beech forest, changes of horizontal and vertical structure in natural Beech forest, effect of light competition on crown expansion of trees in a mixed multi storied forests and the heterogeneity of structure in mixed beech forest. Some results of these researches were introduced in this paper. Making permanent sample plot in other areas of Hyrcanian forests is led to comprehensive studies based on scientific fundamentals.
