Converse Image; Semi-Symbolic System and Place-Bound Meaning: Meta-Discourse
The semi-symbolic system is to clarify how the meaning is systematized in the discourses. This system is based on the similarities between the ways the natural world is spoken (the signifier based on the outer world) and the ways the meaning is formed in the language (the signified formed via language). This is the reason why such a system is so concerned with the study of the pictorial discourse. But this curious concern is at the expense of concealing some resistance which ignores the possibility of moving beyond the contrasts and paradoxes; some resistance that ignores the similarity and correspondence between forms and meanings. The study of “Converse Image” helps us approach such discussions, and indicates how difficult it is to clarify and justify the systematization of the relations between the form and meaning. However, some believe that the mutual effect of the form and meaning entirely depends on this systematization.
