Treatment of a Patient with Type 2 Diabetes and Lichen Planus Using SSRI

Diabetes is one of the great problems of our age and its important goal is to control the blood sugar in order to decrease hyperglycemic long time adverse effects. Also, lichen planus is a chronic skin disease with only conservative and long term treatments that causes many cosmetic and psychiatric problems in patients. Thus, control of type 2 diabetes and lichen planus with modern methods is the goal of the scientists in all times. Report: Patient is a 60 year old man with type 2diabetes and lichen planus that had been treated with anti diabetes oral agents and routine lichen planus treatments, but blood sugar and lichen planus had not been controlled. Luvox 100mg and Xanax 0.5 mg was administered for the patient in order to control his anxiety disorder. Surprisingly, lichen planus and diabetes were also controlled. Stress dependent disorders, such as type 2 diabetes and lichen planus, may be controlled by removing stress factors.
