Investigation of Cinnamomum selenium Effects on Primary Dysmenorrhea and Accompanying Symptoms

Abstract:
Background and Objectives
Primary Dysmenorrhea (PD) is common gynecology problem in 90 % of adult women which defined as a menstrual pain that occur in absence of pelvis pathology. PD is common reason of women and girls’ absence from school and work. Many chemical drugs have been used to cure dysmenorrheal, but each has its own side effects. Cinnamomum zelanicum has been used as an anti spastic and inflammation agent and reducer of menstruation' pain in traditional medicine.
Methods
In this randomized clinical trail and triple blind study 47 single women, with the PD were randomly selected. Twenty six women received capsules of Cinnamomum zelanicum (trial group) and 21 women received placebo capsule (control group). Severity of the systematic symptoms was assessed with Verbal Multidimensional Scoring System. Data were collected by validated questionnaires and analyzed by SPSS software.
Results
The mean of women’ age in trial and control groups were 20.69 ± 1.93 and 21.7 ± 4.6 respectively. There was a significant differences in the severity of pain between two groups (p)
