On the Relationship between Life Expectancy and Psychological Perseverance: A Case Study of Male and Female Students of Azad University of Gachsaran

Abstract:
In this study, the relationship between life expectancy and psychological perseverance was investigated among students of Azad University of Gachsaran (both boys and girls) in 2005-2006. Participants were 85 girls and 247 boys that were selected through random sampling among fourteen majors from three groups of humanities, engineering, and medicine- related majors. They all answered Miller’s life expectancy questionnaire and the perseverance inventory, AHI. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics and Pearson coefficients were used. Results showed that there is a meaningful relationship between life expectancy and perseverance among students. Also, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that the combination of life expectancy, marriage, and age accounted for Mr = 0.56, Rs = 0.32 of hardiness among students of university which was meaningful at p = 0.0001.
