Defining the medicinal plants diversity in Chaharbagh mountainous rangelands, Golestan province

The protection of species diversity is one of the objects of ecosystem management and species diversity has correlation with ecosystem characteristics. We investigated species distribution in environment with diversity measuring and giving some management recommendation with emphasizing on ecosystem dynamic. So, in this research, we investigated the medicinal plant species diversity in Chaharbagh rural rangelands located in southern Gorgan, Golestan province. We used 90 plots located in 5 transects with random-systematic method, introducing the medicinal plants and density of them in each plot and then defined family, vegetation form, biological type and vegetation period. Shannon-wiener, Simpson and McIntosh species diversity indexes were used for determining of medicinal plants diversity. Results showed that, the area has the fair situation and moderate diversity. Most density was belong to verum Gallium, Achillea millefolium, Cynodon dictylon and Euphorbia rigida.
