Study of Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Frost and Sliding on Safety Using Climatic Condition Matrix

Abstract:
Frost and sliding in Izeh-Sharekord road perform dangerous conditions for road transportation. In this study, two goals are followed: Firstly, description of the method for determining the likely occurrence of critical condition of frost and sliding using climatic condition matrix along the Izeh-Sharekord road, and secondly, the spatial and temporal analysis of frost using statistical analyses and GIS. Of the most important conclusions of the study are: There is a direct correlation between frost and height parameters as by increasing the height, frost occurs immediately and lasts late. In the viewpoint of spatial distribution, the studied northern parts (i. e. Sharekordُ s kms 0 to 100) are affected by drastic frost. In viewpoint of temporal distribution the Np5, Np6, NP8 conditions (accounted as dangerous frost conditions for transportation) have been concentrated in December, January and February.
