Solution of Boundary Layer Equations by Thwaites-Walz and Finite Difference Methods

Abstract:

Different schemes have been implemented for Solution of boundary layer equations by many of researchers in the past. These methods are commonly based on numerical or analytical techniques. In this study, boundary layer equations are solved by two different methods. At first, the integral forms of boundary layer equations are expressed and considered by using Thwaites-Walz method. Then, explicit form of finite difference equation is implemented for discretization of boundary layer equation. Finally, laminar two dimensional flow on a flat plate is analyzed by employing both Thwaites-Walz and Finite difference method. Obtained results from the suggested methods are in good agreement with each other.
