Ethical and Behavioral Factors Related to Educational Achievement of Students

This research was administered with the aim of studying the role of scholastic ethic, academic social behavior, educational justice, commitment and cheating on academic performance of college students. For reaching this goal, 292 students from Psychology and Educational Science College of Azad University of Khorasgan branch Esfahan were selected using simple random sampling. Research instruments were: educational justice with 28 items (14 items for educational justice and 14 items for educational injustice), scholastic ethic questionnaire with 8 items, and academic social behavior with 21 items (and three subscales including rules involvement, helping and social participation and sincerely relations) and educational commitment (with 16 items and two subscales including normative commitment and cheating). Academic performance of students also was assessed with the mean of average of four semesters. Data were analyzed with the use of Pearson's correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Results showed that there are significant relations between academic performance of students with scholastic ethic, rules involvement and cheating. The results of regression analysis showed that from predictive variables only cheating has predictive power for prediction of academic performance of students. Negative standardized beta revealed that, students who had cheating and fraudulent behaviors receive poorer outcomes compared to other college students.
