The Literary Tradition of Aghaziyya and its Variations in the Quran
Author(s):
Abstract:
Sacred scriptures usually begin with one type of such phrasings as tasmiya (pronouncing the Divine names), praise, or supplication. This beginning is called âghâziyya (exordium). The Qur’ân’s exordium can be examined from two holistic and atomistic perspectives: first of all, Sûrat al-Fâtiḥa, which incorporates these three structures respectively, is regarded as the most beautiful exordium for the whole Qur’ân.The exordiums at the beginning of the chapters of the Qur’ân are varied and have had an undeniable impact on Persian and Arabic literature.
