Student's Life-World: Towards Pluralization? A Case Study of Amirkabir University of Technology

Studies on university students in Iran show that in recent years the mentality of students and the social space of universities have, to some extent, become pluralized. This is especially obvious in the religious actions and behavior of students. Applying the explanatory model of Peter Berger in this article, we inquiry into this pluralization (of the students’ life-world) at Amirkabir University which is one of the high-ranked universities of Technology in Iran. Through the use of some techniques such as survey, participant observation and documentary study, we reason that one can distinguish concretely two life-worlds among students: fundamental-revolutionary and secular.
