Abstract:
This article aims at the Islamic poems composed by Mohammad-Al-Eid, the Algerian reformist poet. Just like a call to reformation and revolution against colonists, the issue of religion serves as a feature of contemporary Algerian poetry. The article seeks to introduce a kind of literature that, though vested with laudable traits, has remained uncared-for. Hopefully, it will, thus, regain the prominence it deserves as a part of contemporary Arabic literature. Through a short biographical account, the reader first comes to know Al-Eid as a north-African poet who stands like a pillar to the Algerian reformation movement. Then, reference is made to certain topics in his poetry which denote sublime religious values. Finally, an analysis ends the paper up as how Islam and religious culture has affected the poet and his poems.
