Investigating the effect of urban sprawl on destroying agricultural lands of Safa Shahr and solutions for its balancing

One of the significant characteristics of urbanization process in Iran is the rapid, physical and scattered development of cities especially within some recent decades. This development has some disadvantages such as wasting environmental resources and urban lands Safa Shar is one of the cities which was hurt a lot because of rapid growth and urban sprawl. The most important hurts were destroying agricultural gardening lands in the border of this city. This research is going to explain this phenomenon by using some related quality indicators. Also, it is investigating the effect of its environmental biology on destroying agricultural lands and as a result the change in the climate of Safa Shahr. This research is done by analytic-descriptive method and by referring to documentary-library studies, also, by using GIS in preparing the necessary maps. The most important founding’s of this research are as follows: Safa Shahr has had the sprawl growth during recent decades and this change has caused destroying 78 hectares of agricultural land during 1369-1381. In addition, during this period the amount of agricultural lands, that is, very good, good and average classes of this city decreased a lot and instead the area of weak lands class increased considerably finally, the area related to very cold and cold classes of temperature decreased and instead the area of warm and very hot classes of temperature increase.
