Linking the All-Out Defence Approach and the Islamic-Iranian Pattern of Progress: A Proposed Framework

Abstract:
The Islamic-Iranian pattern of progress as a strategic document will have a significant impact upon the various parts of national policy-making and planning as well as upon different levels of [formulating and implementing] short-term and mid-term documents. In this respect, defence-oriented thinking to encourage software and hardware investment in the area of security policies is one of the requirements and necessities of the aforementioned pattern. It should be additionally noted that this type of thinking also requires scientific-applied designings. In the present article, the authors try to draw attention to the approach of “all-out defence,” which is deemed a part of the management-oriented Islamic-revolutionary thoughts of Imam Khomeini, as the building block of such thinking. On these grounds, the authors will examine the possibility of methodically forging a link between the categories of Islamic-Iranian pattern of progress and all-out defence approach in the light of explaining theoretical aspects of security and defence issues (theoretical framework). Along parallel lines, the explanation of some of the most important features of Iran's security environment will provide a helpful context in which the logical hypothesis of the article’s main argument will be put to test.
