Author(s):
Abstract:
The present paper tries to theoretically study emotional intelligence in the light of the view of Islam and psychology, using a religious-scientific approach. In order to better understand the discussion and enrich it, first emotional intelligence and its types and history have been discussed and then emotional intelligence has been thoroughly studied through a descriptive – analytical method. The paper compares between emotional intelligence and cognitive intelligence and reviews the methods used for measuring emotional intelligence. Finally, it examines the approaches to emotional intelligence in the light of the view of Islam and psychology, using content analysis of religious texts and reasonable inference. The paper concludes that even if emotional intelligence is regarded as one of the new issue in psychology, it is, according to Islam, grouped under the heading of reason and its rules and so it is not considered as a new issue.
