Social Identity and Sense of Security (Case study: Tehran Women)

Abstract:
Sense of security as a psychosocial phenomenon is affected by several variables. The present study is the result of a research done on the role of social identity of women in their sense of social security. The study benefits from theories made by Giddens and Jenkins and tries to examine 7 hypotheses and sub-hypotheses. Questionnaire was used to collect the required data from women under 18 years old. The findings of the study demonstrated that 52% of the statistical sample has high, 34.3% has average, and 13.7% has low levels of sense of security. The amount of life security is more than financial one. Examination of hypotheses showed that those who have stronger social religious concerns benefit from higher levels of sense of social security. The study did not prove any relation between the basic trust and sense of security.
