The importance of the Pen

The pen is a writing instrument; words reflect the movement of the pen of God's will on the tablet of existence. Hence, God has sworn by the pen: "By the Pen and what they inscribe" (The Pen/1). Therefore, not only what has been said about the value and honour of words is true of the pen, but also writing has sometimes been considered more important than speaking and a lot has been said about the privileges of the pen. Although the sword and the pen, upon which the world is based, have been cited in most relevant debates in Persian literature, the people of the pen have always been regarded superior to the people of the sword, since they guard the spiritual borders of the human society. In this article, the author deals with the importance of the pen through words and focuses on the continuity of and interaction between words and the pen.
