Crisis Management and Environmental Threats in Iran

Paying attention to the issue of environment and its significance in everyday life of humans, issomething that can not be simply ignored. Almost since mid 1960s, awareness of environmentalissues and bringing it under scrutiny has increased dramatically. Since 1970s onward, manygovernments and organizations have established the international management of the environment.In 1992, many international political policies linked to the issues of development, environment andthe concept of contention of sustainable development, made their appearance. On the other hand,natural disasters and emergency situations (like war or conflicts) often led to the emergence of environmental threats such as shallow water and underwater contamination, air pollution, problems caused by chemical and nuclear bombing, poisonous and hazardous material spill, remain of rubbles and waste with an origin other than routine urban and industrial waste. In this regard, the presence of military threats against Iran on the one hand and the location of our country among the disaster- prone region on the other hand, displays the necessity of taking the issues of passive defense and crisis management in the environment, into close considerations. Therefore, to better understand the issue of identifying the environmental threats seems somewhat necessary. In this article, attempts have been made to briefly take the environmental threats caused by disasters, into considerations and at the end, management solutions in the fields of crisis management and passive defense in the environment section, will be presented.
